Hello, I’m Beth Hammond, a parent coach and special education advocate. I grew up in Burlington, Vermont and earned my bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University. Beginning at a young age, I spent a great deal of time volunteering at rural and inner-city community centers and schools, working with children and families from diverse backgrounds. These experiences ignited my passion for ensuring no child feels lost or ashamed because they think differently. In fact, these differences are often strengths that shine brighter once understood and supported.

Too often, children with invisible disabilities are not diagnosed until they are struggling socially, emotionally, and/or academically. As time goes on, this lack of awareness can lead to a great deal of shame and hopelessness and leave parents feeling alone and overwhelmed.

After years of supporting many families and students, I founded Uplift Advocacy to provide parent coaching, support groups, and guidance navigating the 504 and IEP process. By increasing awareness, challenging common misconceptions, and bridging the gap between families and schools, I help parents feel informed and confident as their child’s strongest advocate.

Behavior is a language and once understood, it changes everything. I look forward to working with you!

Frequently Asked Questions

I work primarily with parents and caregivers, not directly with children.

Supporting parents often creates meaningful, lasting change for the entire family. With a better understanding of ADHD and other neurodivergent differences, parents can build stronger connections with their child, reduce recurring struggles and conflict, communicate effectively with schools, and respond with strategies that are often more effective than traditional parenting advice.

Many neurodevelopmental differences are highly genetic. An example is ADHD; research estimates it to be 70–80% heritable. As parents learn more about their child's diagnosis, many begin to recognize similar patterns in themselves and choose to have their own evaluations. This greater self-awareness often strengthens empathy, deepens connection, and helps parents better understand their child's experiences.

There is an unfortunate amount of misinformation about ADHD, especially on social media.

ADHD is a well-established neurodevelopmental condition recognized by major medical and psychological organizations worldwide.

Experts believe the increase in diagnoses reflects several factors, including greater awareness, improved recognition, and a better understanding of how ADHD can present differently from one person to another. Additionally, increased academic and behavioral expectations in schools often make ADHD-related challenges more noticeable at younger ages. Thankfully, many people who would have been overlooked years ago are finally receiving answers that help explain lifelong struggles.

ADHD can only be diagnosed by qualified professionals using a comprehensive evaluation that looks at many factors and how symptoms affect multiple areas of life.

Coaching services are not typically covered by health insurance. However, some clients are able to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), depending on their individual plan. I encourage you to check with your benefits provider.

I believe support should be as accessible as possible. If finances are a barrier, please don't hesitate to reach out. We can talk through options and work together to find an approach that fits your family's needs.

Either. I enjoy meeting with parents and caregivers in person because sharing the same space can help build connection. However, busy schedules can make this difficult, so I also offer virtual appointments.

We’ll decide together what works best for you and your family.

As a parent coach and non-attorney special education advocate for families navigating ADHD and other neurodivergent differences, I help parents understand their child's struggles, navigate school systems, develop strategies for home, and feel more confident advocating for their child.

Many families find that coaching and therapy work very well together. While a therapist may focus on diagnosing and mental health, I focus on parenting challenges, school advocacy, and helping families create calmer, more connected relationships.
